Hebrews 5:1
KJV 1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Hebrews 5:1Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
5 For every cohen gadol taken from among men is appointed to act on people’s behalf with regard to things concerning God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.

These are my thoughts. The priest served a very important purpose. We all are called to be priests to God thru Christ.

Hebrews 5:2 KJV 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
Hebrews 5:2Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
2 He can deal gently with the ignorant and with those who go astray, since he too is subject to weakness.

These are my thoughts. We should be gentle with others because we have weakness and need to have understanding of others weakness, this does not mean we accept what they do.

Hebrews 5:3King James Version (KJV) 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
Hebrews 5:3Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) 3 Also, because of this weakness, he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as those of the people. Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Copyright © 1998 by David H. Stern. All rights reserved.
These are my thoughts. High priests had to cover their sins as well as ours; Christ had only our sins to cover because He had none of His own.

Hebrews 5:4 KJV 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Hebrews 5:4Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) 4 And no one takes this honor upon himself, rather, he is called by God, just as Aharon was. Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Copyright © 1998 by David H. Stern. All rights reserved.
These are my thoughts. We are to be chosen by God and not by man.

Hebrews 5:5 KJV 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
Hebrews 5:5Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) 5 So neither did the Messiah glorify himself to become cohen gadol; rather, it was the One who said to him,“You are my Son; today I have become your Father.” Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Copyright © 1998 by David H. Stern. All rights reserved.
These are my thoughts. Nothing is greater than God choosing us to be His children.

Hebrews 5:6 KJV 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

6 Also, as he says in another place, a. “You are a cohen forever, to be compared with Malki-Tzedek.”

Hebrews 5:7 KJV 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Hebrews 5:7Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
7 During Yeshua’s life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions, crying aloud and shedding tears, to the One who had the power to deliver him from death; and he was heard because of his godliness.

These are my thoughts. Jesus prayed we should as well. If we pray to God He will answer our prayers, remember no is an answer.

Hebrews 5:8 KJV 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Hebrews 5:8Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) 8 Even though he was the Son, he learned obedience through his sufferings. Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Copyright © 1998 by David H. Stern. All rights reserved.
These are my thoughts. We should also come closer when we suffer than look for something else that has no answer, because only He can help us.

Hebrews 5:9King James Version (KJV) 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Hebrews 5:12 KJV12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Hebrews 5:12Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
12 For although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the very first principles of God’s Word all over again! You need milk, not solid food!

These are my thoughts. We need to be taught the simple things before we can understand the hard things.

Hebrews 5:13King James Version (KJV) 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

13 Anyone who has to drink milk is still a baby, without experience in applying the Word about righteousness.

Hebrews 5:14King James Version (KJV) 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

14 But solid food is for the mature, for those whose faculties have been trained by continuous exercise to distinguish good from evil.

These are my thoughts. After a time of growth in the Spirit we will be able to chew teachings would could not have understood before.
